| Asserts that harmony prevailed during the Nizam’s rule |
Justifying stand: TRS president and Karimnagar MP K. Chandrashekhar Rao addressing the TRS student wing meeting in Karimnagar town on Wednesday.
KARIMNAGAR: Launching a scathing attack against the parties for opposing the Nizam rule in Telangana, TRS president and Karimnagar MP K. Chandrashekhar Rao said that they were making a hue and cry over the Nizam rule as they were unable to digest the spread of Telangana statehood movement.
“I will tell thousands of times that during the Nizam rule communal harmony prevailed and people lived happily. But, they (some parties) want to separate both Hindus and Muslims in a planned manner to dilute the cause of Telangana statehood. We will thwart their attempts and secure separate secular Telangana state with the spread of movement,” he maintained.
Addressing the TRS student wing meeting in Karimnagar town on Wednesday evening, he said that during the Nizam rule Muslims and Hindus celebrated their festivals together in great communal harmony. “The offering of pearls to Lord Srirama during the Srirama navami celebrations at Badrachalam temple was started by Nizams. The Nizams made jewellery for Vijayawada Goddess Kanaka Durga temple,” he reminded. He also stated that Nizam king had performed ‘yagnas’ to reduce floods in the Musi river.
Touring streetsRecollecting his Karimnagar by-elections victory, he said that MIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi had toured each and every street in Karimnagar assembly segment to lure about 75,000 and odd Muslim voters.
But, the Muslims had voted for Telangana statehood and gave a majority of 58,000 votes to TRS in Karimnagar assembly segment alone and the Congress was restricted to some 20,000 and odd votes, he added.
Flaying TDP president and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for stating that he would recollect the lands given by the Congress government after attaining power, he alleged that it was Mr. Naidu who started selling away the precious lands of Telangana to private companies. He charged that the TDP government had sold away the Nizam sugars, AP scooters and precious Wakf lands to the private companies. Expressing concern over the spate of suicides by the Gulf returnees in Telangana region, Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao demanded the government to allocate at least Rs. 500 crore for their rehabilitation by providing loans for their employment.
He said that they would secure about 95 to 100 Assembly seats and 14 to 15 MPs seats in the coming general elections from Telangana and secure separate statehood.
